Our Journey

Manaakiwahine was born from a spark of hope during a time of profound challenge. What began as a personal journey of healing has evolved into a creative kaupapa devoted to inspiring and uplifting others. Each piece we craft—be it artwork, affirmations, poi, or candles—embodies the spirit of resilience, aroha, and empowerment.

Who We Are

We are a whānau-driven creative space, guided by Hayley—a mother, artist and a beacon of resilience whose journey of strength and healing inspires every part of what we do. At her side is her little warrior with Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome)—a precious taonga who teaches us every day that true beauty lies in courage, joy and unwavering love. Our mahi is deeply rooted in manaakitanga: fostering care, kindness, and meaningful connection. This journey is for my family, my tamariki, and most importantly for myself. At the heart of our creative space is a passion for storytelling. We believe that every person, every family, and every journey holds a unique narrative worth sharing. Through art, craft, and shared experiences, we aim to give voice to these stories, celebrating diversity and empowering others to embrace their own paths with pride and purpose. This is more than a creative outlet—it’s a platform for connection, expression, and transformation.
